I'm not familiar with these particular applications so I can't comment
specifically about them. However, if you test these applications via a
command line interface (CLI), then you most likely can use STAF to test
them. You can use the STAF PROCESS service's START request to specify the
command you want to run on a remote (or local) machine. Note that STAF
itself is not a GUI testing tool.

STAF documentation is available via the STAF home page at
http://staf.sourceforge.net by selecting "Documentation" under the
"Support" section in the navigation column on the left. You may want to
see the "Getting Started with STAF" document to begin with and the "STAF
User's Guide" provides more detailed information about STAF and its
services. You may also want to use STAX which is an execution engine for
running STAF commands and can help you thoroughly automate the
distribution, exection, and results analysis of your tests. There also is
a "Getting Started with STAX" document to begin with and the "STAX User's
Guide" provides more detailed information about STAX.

Subject: [staf-users] Application support

Hello,

My company is a manufacturing company, and we are looking for a tool that
we can use to create and run automation tests.

We currently, have three main applications that we are wanting to tests.
All three applications are integerated, run on windows 7 professional and
provides End-End business process(s) for us.

Application 1: Extra! - Windows Session Terminal emulation for IBM
Mainframe used to connect to the Mainframe application
Application 2: RCP(Elcipse 3.3 based) - Client (in a client-server
architecture) - Java application
Application 3: SAP (ABAP application).

I would like to know:
1. Can STAF be used to test all 3 applications
2. Are you aware of any current use of STAF to test in the 3
environments/applications mentioned above.
3. Any references to some STAF documentation with regards to the 3
applications/environment mentioned above

Please any information will be helpful. I am trying to know before hand
that STAF will work for all 3 environments before commiting resources to a
POC.
