When STAFProc first starts up, it creates a STAF variable
(STAF/Env/<Environment Variable Name>) for each environment variable and
sets it to the environment variable's value. I can't think of anything
that has really changed in that code since STAF V3.4.1 to the current STAF
version, V3.4.14.
I recommend you look at the value of the USER environment variable on your
Windows 7 system, e.g. echo %USER%, (assuming such an environment
variable exists) and then start STAFProc. If STAFProc is currently
running, shut it down first (e.g. STAF local SHUTDOWN SHUTDOWN). You
should then see that the STAF/Env/USER variable is set to whatever value
the USER environment variable is set to, e.g. STAF local VAR RESOLVE
STRING {STAF/Env/USER}

I have no idea other than that the value of the STAF/Env/USER variable is:
-encodedCommand UwBUAEEARgAvAEUAbgB2AC8AVQBTAEUAUgA= -inputFormat xml
-outputFormat text
Are you saying that the value of the STAF/Env/USER variable isn't this?

Subject: [staf-users] Just Upgraded to Latest Version And ...
Hi,
Ok, this is probably a dumb@ss question, but I couldn't find it explained
anywhere.
Just upgraded to 3.4.14 from a very old version (3.4.1) on windows 7.
I don't understand the output I'm getting for this command:
staf local var resolve string {STAF/Env/USER}
Response
--------
-encodedCommand UwBUAEEARgAvAEUAbgB2AC8AVQBTAEUAUgA= -inputFormat xml
-outputFormat text
What do the "encodedCommand"/"inputFormat"/'outputFormat" mean?
