Yes, The ResPool (Resource Pool) service can be used to control resources
across a network or just within a single machine. It's up to you how you
want to use it. The ResPool service manages exclusive access to the
entries within resource pools.
In your cause, you can decide on a machine, e.g. server1, where you will
use the ResPool service to create a resource pool on it, e.g. named
DBMachinePool. Then all 50 machines in your network (since they all are
running STAFProc) can submit ResPool service requests to server1's ResPool
service to request/release resources from/to the DBMachinePool.

Hi,
Is the ResPool service meant to control resources across a network, or
just withing a single machine?
For example, I have a group of 10 database machines. I create a new
resource pool called "dbMachines". There are 50 other platforms running
staf in my network. Will those 50 machines be able to use ResPool to
coordinate access to the "dbMachines" pool?
If ResPool isn't a good way to serialize access to resouces, can anyone
suggest a good alternative?
