When you say "I cannot later execute local staf request using that
machine", what do you mean? What STAF service request are you executing
and what is the error?
Are you saying that you can submit STAF service requests to this Windows
machine where STAFProc is started as a service from remote machines? It
is only when you try to submit a STAF service request on this Windows
machine using "local" for the machine that it fails? Does the STAF
service request work if you specify the Window machine's hostname or IP
address (e.g. when using the STAF TCP/IP interface instead of the local
interface)?
Run the following commands on the Windows machine and provide the output:
C:\>cd \STAF (assuming you installed STAF to C:\STAF)
C:\STAF>STAFEnv.bat (to ensure the correct environment variables are
set in this window where you are submitting STAF service requests
C:\STAF>STAF local PING PING
If the above STAF local PING PING request doesn't work, provide the
output, the RC and result and provide the result from the following
requests. Replace yourmachine.company.com with this Windows machine's
host name or IP address.
C:\STAF>STAF yourmachine.company.com VAR RESOLVE STRING
{STAF/Env/STAF_INSTANCE_NAME}
C:\STAF>STAF yourmachine.company.com VAR LIST
Note that if the result from resolving the {STAF/Env/STAF_INSTANCE_NAME}
variable is not STAF then when STAFProc was started, this is the STAF
instance name that was specified. So, you need to set this environment
variable. For example:
C:\STAF>set STAF_INSTANCE_NAME=xxx (where xxx is whatever the value is
for the STAF/Env/STAF_INSTANCE_NAME variable.)
C:\STAF>STAF local PING PING

local request
When I launch staf as Service on a Windows machine ( launching it as a
service means I do not need login to operate on the machine) I cannot
later execute local staf request using that machine.
What can I do to solve this?
I am afraid this is a problem related to environment variables, but in
the script I use to launch it as service the are initialized, and they
have the right value also in the user windows account.
Requests done from different machine on this are correctly executed.
