The variables set by the STAF Variable service are not persistent. You
could use the STAF LifeCycle service to save some STAF variables when STAF
is shutdown and to set them when STAF is restarted. Or, better yet, STAF
provides an external Java service called the Namespace service which
provides a namespace hierarchy for storing and retrieving a persistent
repository of variables. Unlike the VAR service, any variables set in a
namespace will persist across stops and restarts of STAF with no
additional steps required by the user. See

Hi,
Are the vars set by the variable service persistent? That is, does
restarting staf make them go away?
If they are persistent, i assume they would be kept in the data directory
somewhere. Correct?
