It may be because STAF calls the gethostbyname API to resolve the host
name and this may be taking longer in your environment depending on your
TCP/IP configuration on your name server..

Here's the output from using STAFLoop (a simple program that submits a
STAF service request to a system for x number of times). When run on a
Windows XP system submitting a STAF ping request to a Linux (RHEL 5)
system, each STAF ping request takes on average about a 0.1 seconds.

Subject: [staf-users] 1 sec delay for remote command

Hi,
Playing around with staf I compared execution of trivial remote command
using ssh and staf. While ssh returns in appr 100ms millisecs, staf always
returns after a little more than one sec.
Any ideas why?
Using strace I did see the delay in the remote stafproc so that's where it
is.
Thanks,
Hans
