There are several possible reasons why a STAF PING request could fail even 
though a regular ping works.  The help for STAF RC 16 is a good place to 
start.  It says:

Description: No path to endpoint
Details    : This indicates that STAFProc was not able to submit the 
request to the requested endpoint (i.e. machine).  This error usually 
indicates that STAF is not running on the target machine, or that the 
requested endpoint is not valid, or that the network interface or port for 
the requested endpoint is not supported, or that a firewall is blocking 
communication via the port for the requested endpoint, or that a secure 
network interface is being used to communicate to a machine that doesn't 
have a secure network interface configured with the same certificate. 
Alternatively, you may need to increase your CONNECTTIMEOUT value for the 
network interface and/or increase your CONNECTATTEMPTS value in your 
STAF.cfg file.

So, Is STAFProc running on the machine 9.124.159.179?  Is a firewall 
blocking communication via the STAF tcp interface's port (e.g 6500)? Is 
TCP/IP DNS configured correctly on the machine?

9.124.159.179 is a Linux machine, read what this section says about 
certain version of Linux setting up a high level of security access for 
incoming requests on specific ports (including the STAF tcp port which is 
6500 by default and the STAF ssl port which is 6550 by default).
- 3.1.5 Why aren't my entries in /etc/hosts being used for STAF 
communication (particularly on Linux SLES)?

[staf-users] STAF communication fails to identify my machine







Hi, 

I am trying to connect to my machine from STAF of  another 
machine(hamburg.in.ibm.com) ,getting below  error in blue. 
C:\Users\db2admin>staf 9.124.159.179 PING Ping
