A STAF FS COPY request uses a common methodology to be able to copy a file
from any operating system to any other operating system supported by STAF
(so it's not optimized for a particular operating system). It is most
useful when you want to copy a file to a remote machine. So, yes, it's
not as fast as the Windows copy command (which only handles copying a file
to the same machine, not to a remote machine).

Note that you could use the STAF PROCESS service and submit a Windows
"copy" command if you want to copy a file to another location on the same
machine (instead of a FS COPY request).

[staf-users] How to optimized execution of STAF command?

The STAF commmand is get more time as compared to DOS and windows command.

For example: In copying of a file of size 30 MB from local machine to
local machine,

DOS is taking less than one second, windows is taking 12 second where as
STAF is taking 18 seconds.

Can we optimized the copying process and execution of other STAF command
for local machine?
