"Staf" is not the correct executable to run. You can use all lower case
"staf" or all upper case "STAF".

Try the following:

. ./usr/local/staf/STAFEnv.sh
STAFProc &

< here you should see the "STAFProc version 3.x.x initialized" output
message >

STAF local PING PING

What is the exact error you get when starting STAFProc?

Hi,
     I am a staf user but new to Linux.

then
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/staf/lib
else
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=`echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH`:/usr/local/staf/lib
fi
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

if [ -z "`echo $CLASSPATH`" ]
then
CLASSPATH=/usr/local/staf/lib/JSTAF.jar:/usr/local/staf/samples/demo/STAFDemo.jar
