Note that within a STAX job you should use the <log>/<message> elements to
log messages to the STAX Job User Log and/or to send messages to the STAX
Monitor, not the STAX LOG/SEND requests. The STAX LOG/SEND requests can
be useful if your STAX job runs a process (e.g. a Python program) and you
want the process to log messages to the STAX Job User Log and/or send
messages to the STAX Monitor.

Thanks a ton for your kind help. I wasn't aware of these STAX service
requests so I'm reading them and trying to create an understanding as to
how these services are different from the similar elements in XML.
