Alex,
Terminating the underlying <stafcmd> service request is not currently
possible (the <stafcmd> will no longer be running in the STAX job, but the
actual STAF service request will continue to execute until it completes or
times out). There is not a way, in general, to terminate/cancel STAF
service requests. The exception to this is a PROCESS START request (i.e.
<process> in STAX); the PROCESS service has a PROCESS STOP option, which
allows you to terminate the process (which is what the STAX service does
when terminating a <process>).
We do have the following open feature (but no target for when it will be
implemented):
Feature #796158 - Need ability to tell a service to cancel one of its
requests

[staf-users] Question about STAX and terminate
Greetings,
I am currently able to successfully terminate <process>'s calls in
stax that are enclosed within a <block>. I tried to do the same with
<stafcmd>'s instead of <process>., but processes would not
terminate. Is it possible to terminate <stafcmd>'s within a <block>
with a <terminate> call? I'm trying to figure out if i'm doing
something wrong, or if this capability I am talking about doesn't exist.
Thanks,
Alex Cervantes
