try 'staf machine-ip-address ping ping', make sure there is no firewall
in the remote machine, if its there also make sure that you add allow
policy for this particular ip-address and port or just disable it and
try once again
if this also doesn't work try giving full permissions in STAF config
file for the remote machine 'trust level 5 machine tcp://hostname' and try
