I think what you are more likely looking for is not generic database support, 
but rather an interface to a test management system.  I developed a STAF 
service which interfaces with testopia, allowing creation of runs, adding cases 
to runs, setting case run status, etc.  my eventual goal is to release this as 
open source, but I'd want to do some cleanup first, and it's not particularly 
high on my agenda.
