The STAX User's Guide (http://staf.sourceforge.net/current/staxug.pdf) has
information on the STAX variables that are set (and when they are set)
when running STAX jobs, including STAXResult and STAFResult, in the
section "STAX Variables". Here is an excerpt:
STAFResult
Description: the result from a <stafcmd>, <process>, or <job> element
Assigned: each time a <stafcmd>, <process>, or <job> element completes
Type: string, PyList, or PyDictionary (aka Map)
STAXResult
Description: the result from a function <call>, <call-with-list>,
<call-with-map>, <process>, <job>, or <import> element
Assigned: each time a <call>, <call-with-list>, <call-with-map>,
<process>, <job>, or <import> element completes
Type: anything (integer, string, variable, list, nothing, etc.)
In addition, the STAX User's Guide information for each element (such as
<stafcmd> and <call>) includes information about the variables that are
set when the element has completed (including a description of the
contents of the variables).

Re: [staf-users] STAF Install on Virtual M/C and difference between
STAFResult and STAXResult variables.
Q1. This is probably due DNS issue. You can verify using nslookup and
check if you are getting the same ip<->hostname all the time.
Q2. My observation was that you use STAXResult when calling a STAX
function and use STAFResult when calling a STAF command.

Hi,
Q 1.
I installed STAF and STAX on virtual machine. I tried to copy the file
on virtual machine using FS service from my physical machine (ps3927). For
that I gave trust level 5 to my machine in virtual machine config file.
Entry in config file is as follows:-
trust machine tcp://ps3927 level 5
Above entry works fine for coping the files. But after some time STAF
gives error message that my machine tcp://ps3927 has not proper trust
level. If I changed the above entry to
trust machine tcp://ps3927.domainName level 5
It is working properly. Then I can copy the file to virtual machine.
Why such random behavior is there?
Q 2.
In STAX job I want to display the error, so I am using <message>
element. In message element I am using STAXResult variable to display the
error. But if I used STAFResult variable then it displays different error
message.
What's the difference between STAFResult and STAXResult? Which is more
useful to get proper error message in execution of STAX job?
I found that STAFResult variable giving proper error message compare to
STAXResult variables.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Rahul.
