It sounds like the core issue is that there are devices that lie in that regard when probed; that's not good and this patch might be the only reasonable solution since getting manufacturers to fix that, especially for equipment already-deployed in the field, could be very difficult or impossible (especially if the unit doesn't have field-updatable firmware!) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
