One thing I noted this time: after upgrading pkg itself, drm and restart (upgrade in this machine must be an resumable operation), pkg started being killed due to it using all available memory. I also restarted pkg due to package conflicts a few (2 or 3) times. I even thought in asking here what is supposed to happen if someone doesn't upgrade their packages for a lot of time but I feel I just found the answer.
