Switch/case works with regexps? My guess would be you are matching literal
"^\*\*[0-9]{5}$" when using it withing a switch($rU) block. Try
if($rU=~"\*\*[0-9]{5}$")
{
}
else if($rU=~)
{
}
...
else
{
}
instead.
