Hi Nick,

Maybe you could check if the Spyder troubleshooting guide/resources: 
https://docs.spyder-ide.org/current/troubleshooting/index.html

Also, maybe if you try to open Spyder from the terminal directly (running 
with your env activated 'spyder') you will be able to use Spyder again. If 
the issue persist I would suggest you to open and issue with all the 
details following the instructions at 
https://docs.spyder-ide.org/current/troubleshooting/submit-a-report.html#submit-a-report
