Did you provide a water curtain around the opening on the first floor as well?

Thank you,

Subject: RE: tire carousel storage - NFPA 13 (2013ed)

Would a tire rack on the first level from floor to ceiling be allowed to be
protected by OH2? If not, I would be protecting both levels the same.

I just had one of these recently as well. I prefer to stay away from ESFR when
there is a CMSA option just due to the extra installation rules for ESFR which
seem too often be ignored.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Sprinklerforum] tire carousel storage - NFPA 13 (2013ed)

I have a car dealership that is installing a tire carousel the will be 21'7" to
the top of storage. It will not be enclosed or have solid shelves and the
tires will be on-tread.
They are designing the building so that the carousel will start on the 1st
floor going through the 1st floor deck to the 2nd floor. IE: load tires from
the 2nd floor and then remove them for use on the 1st floor.
I plan on treating this as a fixed rack and using chapter 18, table 18.4(d)
ESFR sprinkler protection for 25ft of storage with a 30ft roof utilizing k25.2
@ 15psi +250 hose at the roof top of the 2nd floor to 15ft beyond the tire
carousel.
We are providing a water curtain around the opening at the 1st floor deck.
Question -Can I keep the OH2 (repair garage) density for the 1st floor
sprinkler system in the area around the tire carousel?

Thank you,
