I am working on an existing gridded system that was converted from wet to
anti-freeze several years ago. The system protects a Light Hazard occupancy and
and has a volume around 375 gallons. We are in the process of trying to replace
the existing glycerine mixture with a listed solution. However, since we exceed
200 gallons and less than 500 gallons, the system would need to be calculated
as a dry system (30% increase in remote area and C=100). Since it could not be
a dry system, it was never calculated as such. Would it be acceptable to do a
based on it being a dry grid for the purposes of using anti-freeze? From what I
understand, the issue with dry grids is water delivery time, not actual
hydraulics.
Any idea why this requirement in place?
Is there a listed anti-freeze that can be used for ESFR systems? Most of those
exceed the maximum volume requirements for solutions such as Freezemaster.
