Did you use to be able to place sprinklers on either side of the ridge if you
maintained 3' from the peak compared to now were you have to be within 12" of
the ridge line?

If I recall correctly, it was the 2002 edition that changed the spacing
criteria to what we have today. Prior to that, you just had to do 130 sq ft
for combustible concealed spaces with members <36" on center. You had to
maintain 3' vertically from the peak and 12" from the deck for unobstructed
construction.

Subject: [Sprinklerforum] Attic Sprinkler spacing

I have ran across an attic dry system that has standard heads spaced 11'-11"
parallel and 10'-11" perpendicular to the truss. It is my understanding that
the sprinkler heads cannot be spaced more than 10' apart perpendicular to the
truss. This system was installed in 1994 and I do not have access to NFPA
before 2002. Does anyone know of a code that would of allowed this spacing back
then?
