Did you use to be able to place sprinklers on either side of the ridge if you maintained 3' from the peak compared to now were you have to be within 12" of the ridge line?

Prior to that, you just had to do 130 sq ft for combustible concealed spaces with members <36" on center. It is my understanding that the sprinkler heads cannot be spaced more than 10' apart perpendicular to the truss. This system was installed in 1994 and I do not have access to NFPA before 2002. Does anyone know of a code that would of allowed this spacing back then?
