Was on vacation for a couple days so still catching up on the emails. What Rick said. FFs won’t use the hose on a small hose connection or Class 2 (like, EVER) but they might use the valve, particularly if it’s downstream of the FDC so they can control the water supply. A last resort for attack line water supply, mostly perceived as a mop-up stream.

If there is hose and nozzle attached to the 1 1/2-inch hose valves, then I would think they’re provided for tenant use in addition to a fire extinguisher. However, unless the employees are trained to use the hose, the company would probably not ask them to attempt to fight a large fire due to liability issues. Get out and call the fire department. Also, if there is hose attached, I don’t think a fire department would use the hose for fire fighting operations because they don’t know the condition of the hose. If there is no hose provided, then I think the hose valves are there for the fire department cleanup/mop up operations. I don’t think that they would enter a fire fighting area dragging their own hose and looking for a valve to hook up to. As stated above, these are just my opinions so I hope I don’t upset anyone.
