Hi SRRING,

It is an interesting idea, and I believe it is worthy to discuss as a WG item.

Regarding the requirement, I trust that we do need some new extension to
support this, after double checking RFC8986.
Rethinking how to design the solution, I agree with the document that this
solution may be the best way to go.

I have some questions and comments:
Q1: Do we have any plan to deploy this solution?
Q2:What benefits can we get from this solution? I may suggest to highlight
this part in the draft, or if I miss something?

Comments(non-blocking comments):

1. The S15 of the pseudo code may be the different part comparing to other
SIDs, will suggest to clarify the definition of underlay network connection.
It is needed to specify the definition of underlay network connection, it
should be wide, to allow L2 and L1 connection/link, otherwise we might need
more extension in the future.

2. Figure 2, especially MTN Path layer Topology might need more
clarification? I do not understand it fully, but this might be my problem! LOL.

In the end, I support the adoption, we should focus on this topic in SPRING WG.

Thanks,
Cheng

fordraft-dong-spring-srv6-inter-layer-programming

Hi Alvaro and WG,

I support this adoption. This draft effectively achieves the integration
between IP and underlying networks through SRv6 extensions, which is highly
valuable for operators' multi-layer network management.

Best Regards,

Liyan

Subject: WG Adoption Call for draft-dong-spring-srv6-inter-layer-programming

Dear WG:

This message starts a two-week adoption call for
draft-dong-spring-srv6-inter-layer-programming, ending on April/16. From the
Abstract:

Following the SRv6 Network Programming concept, this document defines
SRv6 based mechanisms for inter-layer network programming, which can
help to integrate the packet network layer with its underlying layers
   efficiently.

Please review the draft and consider whether you support its adoption by the
WG. Please share any thoughts with the list to indicate support or opposition
-- this is not a vote.

If you are willing to provide a more in-depth review, please state it
explicitly to give the chairs an indication of the energy level in the working
group willing to work on the document.

WG adoption is the start of the process. The fundamental question is whether
you agree the proposal is worth the WG's time to work on and whether this draft
represents a good starting point. The chairs are particularly interested in
hearing the opinions of people who are not authors of the document.

Thanks!

Alvaro (for the Chairs)
