Hi SPRING, We just published a draft discussing using APN for CATS(Computing Aware Traffic Steering). For those of you who are not familiar with CATS, I quote the following text from the charter of CATS: "Many service architectures create multiple service instances. The CATS (Computing-Aware Traffic Steering) working group (WG) is chartered to consider the problem of how the network edge can steer traffic between clients of a service and sites offering the service."
CATS involves following two tasks: 1. To steer the traffic to the service instance, the location and identifier of the service instance needs to be carried in the packet. 2. To maintain the service instance affinity, the network edge need to identify the flow. This draft defines APN Segment(LOC:FUNCT=APN ID:ARG) which is used as the service ID and the flow ID.
