Subject: Relationship between draft-chen-rtgwg-srv6-midpoint-protection and
draft-ietf-spring-segment-protection-sr-te-paths-03

Hi,
There is some obvious similarity between the problem addressed in the
(expired)
draft-ietf-spring-segment-protection-sr-te-paths-03<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdatatracker.ietf.org%2Fdoc%2Fhtml%2Fdraft-ietf-spring-segment-protection-sr-te-paths-03&data=05%7C01%7Chuaimo.chen%40futurewei.com%7C18b46fb6d63c414c68ea08dac1a94b86%7C0fee8ff2a3b240189c753a1d5591fedc%7C1%7C1%7C638035230123834927%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=0RspDPRQoijrfb%2BSz7vBV0oHvlgwp2W7411ij87NG8I%3D&reserved=0>
 and
draft-chen-rtgwg-srv6-midpoint-protection<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdatatracker.ietf.org%2Fdoc%2Fhtml%2Fdraft-chen-rtgwg-srv6-midpoint-protection-09&data=05%7C01%7Chuaimo.chen%40futurewei.com%7C18b46fb6d63c414c68ea08dac1a94b86%7C0fee8ff2a3b240189c753a1d5591fedc%7C1%7C1%7C638035230123834927%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=7tSbtegRc9rQ48OF9%2FgL3x9iYGbl4sKcYu3VILfeyIQ%3D&reserved=0>.
[HC]: Both are for midpoint protections.

In the general case, the solutions seem to be quite different because the
former draft uses MPLS-specific mechanisms (context label spaces etc.) that are
not available with SRv6.
[HC]: You are right. The former is for SR-MPLS path, the latter for SRv6 path.

But Section 6 of the former
draft<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdatatracker.ietf.org%2Fdoc%2Fhtml%2Fdraft-ietf-spring-segment-protection-sr-te-paths-03%23section-6&data=05%7C01%7Chuaimo.chen%40futurewei.com%7C18b46fb6d63c414c68ea08dac1a94b86%7C0fee8ff2a3b240189c753a1d5591fedc%7C1%7C1%7C638035230123991144%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=S4mAOYXfn%2BBXzbQKTPZW7ltgkT8pfEYucnwCz%2FyiDP8%3D&reserved=0>
offers a simple optimization for the special case that looks to me as matching
the needs of the latter draft
[HC]: At high level.
