:numref: is apparently unable to resolve document names. (Also, it requires numfig on, which is silly for sections; want a PR to fix that?) Also, AFAICT, the best I'll be able to get out of it is *styled* section numbers, which is probably TRTTD in general, but for my use case is unacceptable. (I need the raw number because it needs to fit in a small spot; the styling text will make it much too big.)
