I'm trying to use sphinx (with read the docs) to search for words that are
keywords in a language, e.g. "or, in, if".

I have removed these as stop words (which gets 'for' to work), but I can't
see anywhere where I can tell sphinx to include words that are two letters
in the index it creates.

I have manually added a word (e.g. "or":2) to the file searchindex.js which
works and lets me search the word 'or'.

So, how do I get sphinx to index two letter words?

Many thanks for any help.
