An annoyance - when I use the guilabel tag in Sphinx, it shows up in italics in latexPDF but bold in HTML. I am used to (and prefer) having it bold.
My local LaTeX expert tried modifying our LaTeX installation to change the emphasis format to be bold instead of italic, but that also made everything I tagged to be italic also was bold (apparently *this markup for italic text* also uses the emphasis format). Why is Sphinx setting guilabel as "emphasis" instead of as something more specific?
