Hi Paolo,

Thanks Brecht. Much improved over the previous version. I still found
some differences with Latexpdf:
* extra white pages are inserted
Where is this?
For the book template (the default used by the Sphinx builder),
chapters start at right (odd) pages. But the LaTeX builder does the
same.
Or perhaps you are talking about the end of the document? The Index
section is output even when no index terms are specified in the
document. Perhaps it would be good if this section is automatically
suppressed in this case.
* date is not, on the front page
This can happen when you include a large logo on the title page (as in
the Lizmap documentation for example). The space between the title page
elements is fixed at the moment. You can override them by specifying a
custom style sheet in conf.py:
from rinoh.style import StyleSheetFile
rinoh_stylesheet = StyleSheetFile('lizmap.rts')
And lizmap.rts::
[STYLESHEET]
name=LizMap custom style
description=Small tweaks made to the Sphinx style sheet
base=sphinx
[title page author]
typeface=$(sans_typeface)
font_weight=bold
font_size=17pt
text_align=right
space_above=20pt
[title page date]
typeface=$(serif_typeface)
font_size=12pt
text_align=right
space_above=20pt
These are copies of the styles defined in sphinx.rts (included with
rinohtype), replacing space_above with smaller values. In a future
release, it will be possible to inherit from a style, so you don't have
to copy the unchanged values.
It would of course be nice if this could be handled automatically,
depending on the size of the logo, but this is not a high priority
feature IMO.
* Table of content and Index entries are not clickable
That's strange. Which PDF reader are you using? I just tested this with
Adobe, Foxit, PDF-XChange and SumatraPDF.
Note that only the page numbers in the index are hyperlinked.
* standard elements (Table of content, Chapter #) are not translated
Rinohtype already contains basic support for localisation, but this is
not yet available in the Sphinx builder.
* after .. notes:: and glossary entries, an extra CR is inserted
You mean ".. note::"? This will be styled the same as in the LaTeX
output in the next release. Note that you can configure this in the
style sheet as well.
Rinohtype 0.2.1 can not match the output of LaTeX for the glossary
definition list unfortunately. I have already decided to consolidate
definition and field lists to allow displaying the definition term and
definition on the same line (It will still be possible to force display
of definition terms on a separate line by means of a style sheet
option). But the second line of the definition paragraph would also be
aligned right of the definition term. That will require some more
effort.
* I have a :menuselection:`Progetto --> Gestore di stampe` and the -->
is not rendered correctly
This is because the font used in the Sphinx stylesheet does not contain
a glyph for this unicode character. Rinohtype warns about this when
rendering:
TeXGyrePagella-Regular does not contain glyph for unicode index 0x2023
(‣)
I've been thinking about making use of a fallback font to handle cases
like this...
* one footer contains: . 9 instead of the name of the chapter
Please let me know if you need my sample.
Yes, a sample document would certainly be useful, especially for this
last remark.
Please log any further bug reports or feature requests as an issue on
GitHub. This makes sure they are properly tracked.
Best regards,
Brecht
