Because I'm a newbie not only to sphinx but also to python, it seems that I happened to install the latest beta version of sphinx with easy_install. In the meantime, I think newbies like me might be better to install the latest stable version of sphinx 1.1.3 by specifying a version like this. > easy_install sphinx==1.1.3 On sphinx 1.1.3, I confirmed the quick search worked correctly even if it was executed against the first page.
