So I inherited sysadmining our Spam Assassin install that runs as an external filter to our Communigate Pro server (using CGPSA).
I've managed (thanks mostly to this list) to figure out how to train Bayes (and am trying to feed it at least 5% ham to spam each time i feed it), and how to install BigEvil, etc. That's about the extent of what I know how to do.
But now I'm faced with the daunting task of upgrading (via CPAN on RH 7.2, and I don't know squat about CPAN) from 2.55. I have all the old spamassassin-annouce emails which have all these scary things about how if I do it wrong I'm going to blow SA up. ;-P (We have 700+ users spread over multiple virtual domains who will all get rather pissy if I inadvertently blow up SA. I doubt the boss would be thrilled either.) I've seen y'all be nice to other clueless SA noobs, so hopefully a few of you could help explain how exactly I go about upgrading SA without borking it all up. (Note that I'm not a sysadmin, I just am unfortunate enough to be the one here who know the most about RH since the other dude left. :-P )
Beyond that "minor" annoyance, I also have a few other issues:
Does SA log by default? Because there isn't squat in /var/log/maillog and what CGPSA logs into the Communigate logfiles isn't helpful. I'd like to run that sa-stats.pl proggie, but with no logfiles that'll be a bit of a problem! (That and I don't have Date::Manip installed. More CPAN stuff. *sigh*)
Also, when I'm doing --lint after installing new .cf files, I see these things:
debug: Razor2 is available
debug: entering helper-app run mode
Razor-Log: Computed razorhome from env: /root/.razor
Razor-Log: Found razorhome: /root/.razor

I'd been told the last dude had made SA run "all that extra stuff", but from the looks of it Razor, DCC, and Pyzor are all borked. What flaming hoops do I need to jump through to un-bork them?
TIA and all that jazz.
