What do most people who write new SA rules set their threshold too? I had set it around 3.0 for our company, but the false positive rate was very high. I was looking at some of the big-evil stuff and noticed that many of the scores were 3.0 by themselves...
Does everyone just use the 5.0 that comes by default?
Nope.. The ISP i admin has 350 000 users and the score we're using is 7.5 and its proven itself so far to be reliable.. To make SA more effective, you really do want to use RBLS+BIGEVIL and the other custom written filters.. The false positive ratio is very very low at 7.5 and for the month of december, the SpamAssassin layer has caught 69,000,000 (yea, 60 million) spam messages..
