Sorry for the false alarm. I inadvertently cut n' pasted the reversed
address from a previous nslookup into the dig command, and things went
downhill after that. :(

It looks as if we've chased this one to the ground. The mail was apparently
legit, and the related spam spoof (in HTML) clearly was not.
