Then it sounds as though your SA isn't set up/ installed right.

It would seem like asking Evolution to fire up a shell to run a perl
script would be somewhat wasteful of system resources, especially is SA
is running somewhere else already.  And, IIRC, sending a message through
SA twice is a Very Bad Thing to Do as SA gets all confused when it
starts scanning its own headers.

I'd fiddle around with your original install of SA and make that work
right before I started pasting extra kludges on top of a busted setup. 
Send the sampleSpam.txt message through from the command line until SA
behaves correctly, or at the very least bypass the first SA run
altogether if you're going to call it from within Evolution.
