Hello list-

I've been using SA for a while, including the bayes stuff, training it
with sa-learn every few weeks on the latest spam samples and ham I
happen to have received.

I just did... a root oops.

I was running known spam mails through a script which does a
sa-learn --single --spam on the things, then it deletes them... the user
SA runs as cannot log in itself, so I have to su to the user from root.
I forgot that last step, so quickly killed the thing. It seems sa-learn
doesn't respond to CTRL+C, so I had to terminate it from another
terminal, as root. No problem, I think... only a few lost spams, and
maybe root's bayes database is broken - who cares?

So I su'd to that user and ran the script. Uh-oh, I find I have a few
problems. I try other sa-learn commands - they all error out
identicaly:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.spamassassin$ sa-learn --rebuild
Cannot open bayes databases /var/amavis/.spamassassin/bayes_* R/O: tie failed:
Cannot open bayes databases /var/amavis/.spamassassin/bayes_* R/W: tie failed: File
exists
Cannot open bayes databases /var/amavis/.spamassassin/bayes_* R/W: tie failed: File
exists

So I google. And I google. And I search the gmane archives of this
list. And of the dev list. And I google. The only thing I found was
somebody else with a similar problem and a dude responding saying, "yep,
I have that happen when I do sa-learn as root" ... but no fixes. I
really don't want to wipe out my current database - I just don't have
enough spam laying around to retrain it (barely any gets through these
days)... ham is, of course, in great abundance.

Any thoughts? Any fixes? Any suggestions? Any other information
needed?
