1 - What does "Learned from 0 message(s)" mean?
It means no learning happened. Your interpretation is ONE possibility, but it's the wrong one.. it didn't learn because you don't have DB_File, thus it's impossible for bayes to store data. Since bayes can't store data in a database, it doesn't bother even trying to learn anything.. It would be pointless to try.
2 - What does "DB_File module not installed, cannot use Bayes" mean?
It means you don't have DB_File installed. This is an optional perl module, but it's required for bayes operation.
RedHat packages this as a RPM file named perl-DB_File-*.rpm.
The updated one for RH9 is named <ftp://mirror.hiwaay.net/redhat/redhat/linux/updates/9/en/os/i386/perl-DB_File-1.804-88.3.i386.rpm>perl-DB_File-1.804-88.3.i386.rpm
