Hi

I followed the guidelines of scott l henderson on how to build a RH9 system with postfix, amavis and spamassassin. All works fine now, but I'm wondering about one thing. He makes a setting ($warnspamsender = 1)  that will sent the original sender an e-mail when his mail is rejected. He claims that it is RFC compliance to notify the sender whenever you don't deliver to a recipient.

How do you feel about this?

I feel that you should either reject durring the SMTP transaction (using a 5xx error code) or not bounce at all...

post delivery DSNs for spam, while well intended, are a bit foolish when the realities of joe jobs and mailing lists are considered.

Personaly, I favor "tag only" on the server side, and then filter it all to a "to be trashed" mailbox in my mailclient.. This way I have some oversight as to the FP rates my settup is getting.
