I think CPAN is up to 2.60 now, but either way, 2.55 is kinda old and you should 
upgrade, even if you do it from source.

To create a user_prefs file, just create an empty file and start populating it with 
the appropriate options/settings. Check out the manpage for Mail::SpamAssassin::Conf 
for a wealth of information on those options.
