Here is a spam that should convince people to turn on Bayes. This
Nigerian spam was almost certainly continually resent against
SpamAssassin 2.60. Each time, the words were altered slightly until
none of the rules fired. However, SpamAssassin with untrained Bayes
turned on can still catch the spam because of the number of words it
shares with other Nigerian spam.
As SpamAssassin caught other less well-crafted Nigerian spam, it was
auto-learning all the words from them, including words that are in this
spam.
That is, no matter how much the spammer tuned his words to avoid the
actual rules, he wasn't able to avoid all spammy words that Bayes had
trained on and still get across his semantic content.
