Hi all

I've got spamassassin 2.60 running (as root, not fine I know). Sendmail
is working with spamass-milter which calls spamassassin. My system is a
red hat 8.0 box. In /var/log/maillog I see those recurring events:

Nov 17 10:19:36 probivirix spamd[30674]: cannot write to
/root/.spamassassin/bayes_journal, Bayes db update ignored

The file exists, but its size is 0. does it have to be in a special
format? Owner is root:root.

What does that mean and how can I resolve it?

From the man page for spamd: "-u username, --username=username
Run as the named user. If this option is not set, the default behaviour is to setuid() to the user running "spamc", if "spamd" is running as root."

Fix the perms so that the spamc user can write to the file. Or better still create a spamd user.group (and fix the perms for those).
