I have found that spamd will not use razor on my system because of permissions. Is it safe to run spamd as root?
It's not entirely safe to leave it running as root... if you try, spamd will setuid itself to nobody.
You can however start spamd as root and use the -u parameter to have spamd setuid itself to a non-privleged account of your choice..
If you create a "myspamd" user, give it a home directory and no login, you should be able to safely start 'spamd -d -u myspamd' as root.
