Realistically I think it is impossible to stop spam for good. The only actual practical way of achieving this would be to somehow inhibit (either technologically - removing Internet access, or via the old-fashioned method - execution) spammers ability to .. well, spam.
SA, although brilliant, faces the same dilemna ultimately as regular AI development does - whilst its possible to create a fairly accurate facsimile of a human being and how he/she thinks, a completely accurate model is yet to be achieved. In so much as this applies to spam, so long as it is possible to obfuscate emails but still make them "human-readable", SA and its ilk are always going to be playing catch up. After all, aoccdrnig to rsceearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. But I digress.. I would LOVE to know what the proposal is for "eliminating spam for good" because to me, as a programmer as well, it just sounds like marketing hyperbole.
