Hi Michael, There is definitely a dependency order. You need to upate installed RPM. If you want to update each RPM, one at a time, you will need to use the --nodeps option. Just understand that if you update each RPM one at a time, you *have* to update them all. Otherwise you will have one confused installation of SA. If I remember correctly, both spamassassin and spamassassin-tools depend on perl-Mail-SpamAssassin.
1) rpm -Uvh --nodeps perl-Mail-SpamAssassin-2.60-1.i386.rpm 2) rpm -Uvh spamassassin-tools-2.60-1.i386.rpm 3) rpm -Uvh spamassassin-2.60-1.i386.rpm The other options is to put all three on one command line and avoid the --nodeps option. #-- You will need to excuse the line wrap here. rpm -Uvh perl-Mail-SpamAssassin-2.60-1.i386.rpm spamassassin-tools-2.60-1.i386.rpm spamassassin-2.60-1.i386.rpm --Larry > -----Original Message----- > From: Michael Emdy [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, October 22, 2003 11:20 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: [SAtalk] How to update old version of SpamAssassin > > > > I've been trying to upgrade my Spam Assassin install on > RedHat 9 unsuccessfully so far. > > I get this when trying to use the RPM from the SA site. > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] src]# rpm -Uvh spamassassin* > warning: spamassassin-2.60-1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: > NOKEY, key ID e580b363 > error: Failed dependencies: > perl-Mail-SpamAssassin = 2.60-1 is needed by > spamassassin-2.60-1 > perl-Mail-SpamAssassin = 2.60-1 is needed by > spamassassin-tools-2.601 [EMAIL PROTECTED] src]# > > If I try to update the perl-Mail-SpamAssassin via the RPM I get this: > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] src]# rpm -Uvh perl* > warning: perl-Mail-SpamAssassin-2.60-1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA > signature: NOKEY, key ID e580b363 > Preparing... > ########################################### > [100%] > file /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf from install of > perl-Mail-SpamAssas sin-2.60-1 conflicts with file from > package spamassassin-2.44-11.8.x > file /usr/share/man/man3/Mail::SpamAssassin.3pm.gz > from install of perl- Mail-SpamAssassin-2.60-1 conflicts with > file from package spamassassin-2.44-11.8.x > > Although I do have the perl-Mail-SpamAssassin RPM in the same > directory, I've even downloaded them twice to make sure they > weren't corrupted.
