We're super lightweights, peak at 500 foreign inbounds/hour with overnight lows at 15 per hour and we don't scan authenticated internal-to-internal mailings. We stress tested our setup by suspending the processing queue, loading 5000/50k (about 244mb) test messages (19.5 score each) sent to a dummy account through the LAN, then restarted the queue and it chewed through them at roughly 4 per second. Don't know if it could have gone any faster if we had turned off BL checks in SA 2.55, the t1 was rather flakey that weekend (1000ms ping at times to a router 1 hop away from the Chicago backbone-love visual route). Not very scientific but it was enough to give me predictive measures. Been meaning to retest under 2.6 but haven't had the time.....
Server specs are overkill for us right now but we are planning on adding MAPI connections so I'll loose a big chunk of processing to those persistent connections. (and I can always fill the 2nd cpu slot to be a total freak) Todd -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dan Wilder Sent: Tuesday, October 21, 2003 11:36 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [SAtalk] server specs On Tue, Oct 21, 2003 at 10:32:41AM -0500, Todd Schuldt wrote: > SA is also file IO intensive. You do not mention how many emails your SA setup actually scans. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dan Wilder <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Technical Manager SSC, Inc. P.O.
