Oleg, I know it's going to take a little effort to update Spamassassin. For me it was fairly straightforward. I just unpacked it from the tarball and did an install. Others had issues migrating existing databases, but most of that is covered in the README and INSTALL files in the package.
Mostly you need to consider that this is not going to be the last time you have to update these programs. If the spammers and virus makers would stop making new versions, we could stop making new versions of spamassassin and amavisd. In the real world, you need to plan to update this system regularly and in a timely fashion. So you may find that you want to keep notes about install configurations and file locations to make this an easier and regular process in the future.
