No, there should be no problem with the permissions or having a 
backup file around.  Files from that directory are used by perl 
when, for example, "use Mail::SpamAssassin::PerMsgStatus;" 
occurs in a program.  SA doesn't manipulate with them directly. 
Perl doesn't care about the permissions (as long as it can read 
the files), and it doesn't load files that aren't named 
specifically in the program.
