I don't think that was his point. I believe he indicated that security flaws are found quicker in open source than closed source. Which is true. He also said the counter to that is that a project that is actively developed closes those security flaws quicker than closed source. In the end, he addressed a fundamental misunderstanding about closed source software in that many individuals believe that because the software is closed that it is less vulnerable to security holes or people finding the flaws. I think it was a great article pointing to the strength of open source software.
