Ah, but I do think that copying emails to a folder with a cron-ed scan will accomplish what I am after very neatly.

Not entirely true, yes? The -l option effectively delivers mail, since it's
copying directly to a mailbox.

Actually, what the original sender was describing sounded a lot like an
expansion on -r, to allow reporting spam to an arbitrary location (instead
of just razor/DCC/etc). That's not entirely outside of the balliwick of 
SA 9though I agree that SA shouldn't attempt to become a mailhandler).
