Look at the header (if you are using 2.6)
In the X-Spam-Atatus: header you will see

autolearn=no
Or
autolearn=ham
Or
autolearn=spam

X-Spam-Status: Yes, hits=30.8 required=5.0 tests=BAYES_99,BIZ_TLD,
    DATE_IN_PAST_03_06,DATE_SPAMWARE_Y2K,FORGED_MUA_OUTLOOK,
    FORGED_RCVD_NET_HELO,FROM_HAS_MIXED_NUMS,FROM_NUM_AT_WEBMAIL,
    MISSING_MIMEOLE,RCVD_IN_BL_SPAMCOP_NET,RCVD_IN_DSBL,RCVD_IN_NJABL,
    RCVD_IN_NJABL_SPAM,RCVD_IN_OPM,RCVD_IN_OPM_HTTP,RCVD_IN_OPM_HTTP_POST,
    RCVD_NUMERIC_HELO autolearn=spam version=2.60

Running with the -D option is very informative too.
