I just read that NANOG post. I'm glad he/they are aware of the potential backlash of changing the "out of the box" functionality. I also liked his solution - "delegation-only". It's a lot cleaner than the IP based patches that have been floating around. > Of course, Verisign has total administrative control over .com and .net, too. > They own the .com/.net authoritative servers. They control the contents of > the root files for those zones. They can do what they like. The problem is, Only to an extent. They've got contracts with the DOC which have to be adhered to. I haven't seen those contracts of course, so maybe they're within their contractual obligations. It's worth pointing out that they don't have *complete* autonomy over the TLDs, though. This whole Verisign thing has made for a lot of good reading today, particularly on NANOG. I'm still somewhat in shock with Verisign taking such a drastic measure without even warning the network operators ahead of time. This is a particularly bold and slimy move, even for them. -- "Nietzsche was stupid and abnormal." - Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Spamassassin-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/spamassassin-talk
